This is the last of the pictures from our road trip to NYC/Philly. The weather was pretty amazing for most of the weekend, as you can see from the pictures. It rained a little bit, but not enough to ruin the trip in the least.
Oussama was straight chillin in Central Park. We came in from the entrance at Harlem and hung out around the lake that’s right there. Here’s B&W shot of him in front of the sparkling water.
Dahman was hiding under a tree, with some really droopy leaves, and was taking pictures of ducks or something.
At the entrance to the World Trade Center train station, an observation area allows people to see what’s being done with the site. It’s basically a giant pit, full of construction equipment, but the mood is always somber and still with the reminder. Oussama leaves behind him a shadowy reminder of what once was.
Dahman and Tayeeb stand in the rainy street outside of Masjid At-Taqwa on Bedford Ave in Brooklyn. Imam Siraj was out of town that weekend, so we just took a little tour of the masjid and headed on our way. The surrounding area is loaded with Muslims and halal restaurants.
Outside of a Halal Chinese restaurant on Bedford Ave in Brooklyn, Oussama stands under a neon sign that reads, “No Pork”. This, and many other restaurants in the area cater specially to the dietary needs of the large Muslim community that resides there.
Back in our room, Tayeeb stands in front of a sun-filled window as he speaks with his family back at home over the phone on the final day of our trip. Soon afterwards, we were all on our way back home.
